Melanie Elzinga is a rancher, photographer, and conservation range rider. She currently works on Alderspring Ranch, which her family owns and operates. She spends her summers riding on her family’s public lands grazing allotment while practicing “inherding,” an innovative grazing paradigm pioneered by the Elzinga family in 2015 as a response to grazing pressures and predator conflicts in the high country. When not too busy with range riding or ranch work, Melanie loves furthering her horsemanship while starting colts and keeping the ranch’s riding string tuned up.
